thursday

Today’s fractal looks like it arrived out a windstorm. I am endlessly fascinated by the infinite patterns fractals can make.
I like the fractals I find in nature, too, especially leaf patterns:

Took a twilight walk last night and it was the first time since April that I needed a jacket.
Glad to see the Halloween decorations up although maybe not as many as last year? Then I stopped at the hardware store and oh dear, tons and tons of Xmas decorations already. Too early, man, too early.
fractal Monday

Fractals for peace!
Having a good time learning how to make 3D fractals. What I love best about fractals is all the weird little worlds they create. I can (and do!) spend hours exploring these strange, amazing landscapes.

Listened to Here For It All while working on photo and art projects yesterday and I really like this album. It’s a fun mix of contemporary and classic 80s and 90s R&B. I’ve especially warmed up to the track “My Love” because it’s totally giving quiet storm.
Thursday night fractal

Another nice flame made with Apophysis. Tried out the blurring option.
But I'm really excited about fractals now because I'm finally learning to make 3D versions.
saturday's mandala

Today’s mandala for peace.
Errands and walk in the morning, still humid AF. Settling back in to continue working on projects.
Saturnian insights on Saturn’s day: make the most of your youth. Aging brings health issues which can limit. While many conditions can be managed, it’s not the same as being in your 20s in full health.
Also:Oktoberfest starts today.
Notre- Dame cathedra towers tol re-open after several years of rebuilding.
Saturday meditation

Made a fractal mandala for peace.
My New Year’s resolutions were 1.) spend less time on social media and more time reading and 2.) develop a consistent fitness plan.
I’m doing ok with both goals. I get up an hour earlier now and incorporate both goals into daily tasks. I start the day with weight lifting and then read for half an hour. I get in at least 20 minutes of cardio. Instead of doom scrolling at night, I read.
I know it sounds like a cliche but changing habits around morning and night routines helps.
twisting and turning

Working on some fractal art developed from the Julia equation.
Nice twists and turns although when I zoom in, those jagged edges begin to appear.
fractal session

Result from last night's factal session. I love fractal flames! Different vibe from the standard Mandelbrots: ethereal, cosmic, and dreamy.
Fractals are the workings of the cosmos unfolding in the algorithmic dance of digital consciousness.

Welcome to my blog!
I'm an author, photographer, and musician. I write about music, photography, art, literature, and life after turning 50.
Samples of my music and sound effects.
My videos featuring music, photography, and fractal artwork.
monday

After spending the weekend immersing myself in the best of the creative human spirit, coming back to the current “reality” was a real letdown.
I keep asking, why do we accept our current epidemic of nihilism and apathy? Why have we (collectively) given up? Why are we (collectively) set against progress, enthusiasm, and motivation?
I say collectively because while there are individuals out there fighting the good fight, it feels like the darkness is bigger.
I don’t know. In the immortal words of Principal Skinner, “Prove me wrong, kids, prove me wrong!”
In the meantime I cleaned and started learning another fractal program. I love mathematical art; it gives me structure to lean on by assuring me that there is some kind of underlying harmony and logic to the universe.
