Another session of walking in the park followed by working on art.
It's that in between time of year when it alternates between sunny and rainy days, but not much is growing yet. Some daffodils here, a few dogwoods there.
This park used to have several rose bushes but landscapers took them out last year. I hope they'll replant them.
While walking, I thought about how psychedelic is truly my favorite word. British-Canadian psychiatrist Humphry Osmond created this word while communicating with author Aldous Huxley to reflect the Greek words psyche (soul, mind) and delic (manifesting, making). Something that is psychedelic makes the workings of the mind/soul visible and present in the physical world.
The term sounds more positive than hallucinogen and perhaps broader than entheogen, which emphasizes the religious/spiritual aspect of an altered state of consciousness. What's useful about the term psychedelic is that it goes beyond drugs to mean any creative act that makes the soul visible in this world. Music, art, meditation, contact with nature, can all evoke and bring out the soul in positive ways.
When I work on cultivating a psychedelic mindset, it's about looking at the world through the perspective of soul.
