After a run of warm, sunny days, a front moved in with cooler temperatures and heavy downpours. Sitting on the couch with coffee and a kitty on my lap was extra nice this morning. Then I explained to her gently that I needed to get up and the necessity of doing grown up human things but she wasn’t convinced. (And neither was I, really.)

As I went about my errands, I took time to notice how the rain changed the landscape: a sudden green as plants drank in the moisture, thick clouds of mist rising off the mountains, a freshness to the air.

The sights and sensations made me happy but also brought a poignant feeling. Planet Earth is a treasure to be preserved. Its wonder contrasts sharply with the ugliness rising through humanity right now. We’re losing sight of ourselves as beings that belong to a three-dimensional world. I don't want us to forget.
