All respect and honor to the men and women who served in the Allied armed forces in the fight against fascist regimes that deprived people of basic human and civil rights and wanted to impose that deprivation and devastation on the rest of the world.

The Greatest Generation gave their time and their lives to this fight so that we, the younger generations, could enjoy peace, freedom, and plenty in the context of a functioning democracy backed by a truth-based fourth estate.

As the last WWII veterans and Holocaust survivors pass on, we lose that personal link. With that loss, there is a danger that the subsequent generations will forget the hardships, dangers, and suffering this war produced. There is also the danger people will no longer understand how a particular population lost its sense of decency and reality through an onslaught of propaganda engineered to twist people’s psyches with lies and fear.

Don’t let this forgetting, this turning away from humanity, this seduction by disinformation happen again.
