After walking back up from the beach at the Salton Sea, we walked along a trail over to a picnic area. Saw this tree along the way.

That’s a cool thing about the Salton Sea. It looks desolate but as you walk along, a rich ecosystem of vegetation and birds starts to reveal itself. 
 

Erosion and evaporation of the sea is creating small rivulets and ponds with their own little ecosystems. The pond in the back of the picture was home to a family of ducks and birds with calls I’ve never heard before were hopping along the branches of the trees.
