Sometimes I run across discussions of whether we should keep reading the classics. As few as five years ago, I would have definitely said yes.

But the world has changed. The next generations are growing up and I’m thinking it’s time to let go of enshrining the classics. Instead we could encourage students and readers in general to read widely and try new genres from different authors.

There will always be readers who love the classics but it's good to branch out. Let people enjoy different types of books and styles of writing.
