I raised the flag earlier and this time wanted to note the original 1978 flag designed by Gilbert Baker:

There's a personal aspect to marking Pride Month: In the late 70s, I made my first trip to California to meet my cousins. That was at the peak of West Coast counterculture and gay pride in SF. The new vibes were a revelation and the trip changed my life and expanded my consciousness.

We had this album when I was young (when vinyl was the only option) and it was on constant repeat on the record player. I can still remember balmy summer nights playing games and star gazing while Lennon sang about Lucy in the Sky and George presented his sermon about the within and without.

Sgt. Peppers has been one of my top influences as a writer and artist. Travel to the West Coast opened up the outer world of physical space. Sgt. Peppers opened up the world of inner space.
