I support her decision to regroup and consider where she’s going.
I applaud when people who are underdogs get their well-deserved recognition. However, getting too famous too fast has serious downsides. People crave authenticity and representation but maybe lean too heavily on the public avatars who represent us.
Sure, I’d be disappointed if I had tickets, and a show got canceled. But a performer and their family’s well-being come first. Good on her for keeping her senses.
Because in a world filled with hypocrites and users who lie for money and clout, it’s refreshing to see someone who is honest and is forthright telling people, this is how I feel and where I’m at right now.
Once upon a time that approach was called integrity. That was before the polarization and the jockeying for the most hyper partisan take ever mentality set in.
