Finished The Emerald City of Oz and so far, it's my favorite after the first one.

My jottings:

• epic length, lagged a bit, but I was invested


• again very psychedelic, tripping through strange lands to meet beings that represent the psyche


• puns!


• philosophy on the nature of evil


• Ozma’s response is Taoist


• the Wizard’s redemption arc


• wealth and power corrupt


• recognizing good fortune and expressing gratitude


• the Rigamarole people talk like chatbots


• I have known many Flutterbudgets and wish I could have left as easily as the characters did. Doomcasting in advance of anything actually happening is terrible for morale and the Scarecrow says as much in the above quote.

• shit is real when escaping to Kansas seems like your best bet


• I like the screw you guys we’re outta here ending. 

Ok, since this was supposed to be the last book, I’m taking a break from the series to read something else.

After too many months of being distracted, I want to read more and am encouraged by the progress I’ve made so far.
