Interesting article and discussion about people’s music choices after the age of 30.
While I have my comfort and nostalgia playlists, I still nudge myself to keep listening to new songs, new genres, and new artists. Keeps the mind fresh.
Also, I don’t want to turn into an angry Boomer who looks down at the musical tastes of the younger generations.
Many years ago (the 1980s), I was listening to an album by The Talking Heads. An older relative who was visiting for the holidays walked into the living room. They stopped in their tracks with an alarmed expression, shouted at me about listening to “terrible music,” then stormed away.
Their reaction surprised, and then puzzled me. I mean, why get upset over something so trivial? What could be so triggering?
After that incident, I vowed to keep an open when I got older. Music keeps us connected with the pulse of life as it evolves and moves. What a gift to the soul.
