Random thoughts about books and reading floating through my mind this morning…

  • Sometimes I think back to books I previously read and consider if my thoughts or relationship to them have changed. That’s definitely the case for Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye. Even taking in the context, the book is egregiously of its time. But I still like Nine Stories.

  • I know algorithms can be awful but I gotta note that the Amazon/Kindle algo has brought some fantastic books to my attention and widened my reading tastes.

  • But ebooks are getting pricey though. $14.99 for a new release? Yipes! That’s when I lean on the Libby app, although the downside there is a waiting list that can be anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks.

  • My current read, Slaves of New York by Tama Janowitz, is a book I’ve had on my TBR for forty years. No cap! I was around in NYC in the 80s, was aware of her as a then new author, and always meant to read that book. Well, better late than never.
