This week I have been dealing with back pain that at times has incapacitated me. Difficult to get out of bed and then I'm lying on the floor.
Patched myself up today with icing the area and ibuprofen but I have to face the issue: this is a manifestation of burnout. I officially recognize it’s time to make some changes in my life. It's an issue of work/life balance but it's also an issue of keeping the soul intact in the grind and hustle of late stage capitalism.
There's more to life than constant work. We are small beings in a vast universe, true, but we're also alive. We're here on Earth to enjoy being alive and to build communities, but man, have we ever forgotten that as a culture!
Looking at the new telescope pictures brings me back to watching Carl Sagan on Cosmos and his total joy about the beauty and logic of the universe. We need that spirit again.
