If Watergate marked my childhood, then the Cold War and its end characterized my teen years. I remember newspaper headlines about SALT talks and national security under the threat of nuclear war.
And I can still clearly remember the astonishment and joy when the Berlin Wall fell and the countries behind the Iron Curtain became democracies. Exciting times.
